Obituary of Verlia M. Carter
Mrs. Verlia M. Carter, 74 entered her eternal resting place on Sunday January 29, 2017.
Verlia was born on September 29, 1942 in Frederick, Md. She was the daughter of the late James Hamilton Carroll Sr. and Cora Frances Carroll. Verlia attended Hope Hill and Lincoln school, before retiring, Verlia worked at Tim Mays Security, Mays clothing store, Claggett Center, The Courtyard by Marriott, and The Board of Education where she retired after 34 years serving the community with the focus on many families and children, agencies, mental health, doctors, and hosts of Non-profit organizations and churches.
Verlia was also known for her unique style and was also a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
She is survived by three sisters, Elaine Hyson (Frank) Montana, Mary Weedon, Phylis Carroll both of Frederick, two aunts, Corinthia Brown (Charles) Imogene Brown, one uncle, Levone Carroll (Viola) all of Frederick, 11 children, Terry Carroll, Allen Carter, Carolyn Rollins (Bernard), Karen Carroll, Rochelle Greene, Nicole Bass (Kelcey), Jerry Greene, Victoria Noel (Kendaly), Kristinena Carroll, Ashley Gardiner, Starr Gardiner, All of Frederick, 16 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and very special and dear friends.
She was processed in death by her father James Hamilton Carroll Sr., mother Cora Frances Carroll, brother James Pete Carroll, and son Herman Leroy Carter III.
Special Thank You to Asbury United Methodist Church, Dr. Amr Z. Hegazi and staff from the Cancer Care Center of Frederick, FMH Home Health Services, Precious Memories Funeral Home and The Weinberg Center.
The family will receive friends on Saturday February 4 at The Weinberg Center for the Arts, 20 W. Patrick Street Frederick, MD. 21701 from 9a-11a. Services beginning at 12p. Officiating will be Reverend Kaye C. Coates. Intermittent will be in Hope Hill Cemetery, 3360 Parks Mills Rd. Urbana, MD. 21710. In lieu of flowers the family requests that monetary donations be sent to PNC with the attention of Starr Gardiner.
