Helen Gearlene Tancemore was born on Tuesday February 23, 1926 to the late Wilmer B. Tancemore and the late Dorothy Bishop Tancemore at 627 Trimble Road in the first house that was up on the hill.
She departed this life in the wee hours of the morning on Wednesday December 4th, 2019 to begin her soul’s journey with God & her ancestors after living a long joyous life doing it her way!
Helen was educated in the Philadelphia public school system and briefly worked at Cintas Uniform Company in Germantown, Pennsylvania before moving to Joppa Maryland. Later; while living in Joppa, Helen worked at Bata Shoe Factory only to discover that her father did not want her to work; therefore, she was able to live her life as he wanted her to do so she happily returned to Philadelphia; though, after her parents departed this life; she worked at Lorian Health System caring for the elderly.
She joined Shiloh Baptist Church in Philadelphia, PA under Rev. William Powell and as a young girl loved bible study best. She later joined Corner Stone Baptist Church in Philadelphia, PA under the late Harold Davis and remained a very active member until leaving Pennsylvania to live in Joppa, Maryland in order to care for her parents.
