Obituary of Mikeal Samone Richardson
Please share a memory of Mikeal to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mikeal Samone Richardson, 19, of Washington DC passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 after a valiant 10-month battle with a rare form of brain cancer known as diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG).
Samone was born October 10, 2000 in Washington DC. She was a happy person with a positive outlook on life. She always tried to do her very best. When things did not work out as she had hoped, she used the experience to learn and grow. Samone was a consummate student, not only academically but of the world. She lived a full life filled with law camp, modeling, honors classes, and many other experiences yet she always made time for friends and family because these people gave her life. She graduated from Paul International Public Charter School in the top ten percent of her class in June 2019.
Samone was diagnosed with DIPG on February 27, 2019. Her battle with DIPG made it impossible for her to achieve her dream of attending college but she was proud to have been accepted to Spelman, Clark, Fisk, FAMU, VCSU, and other colleges. She fought the disease valiantly and advocated for a cure to DIPG. She supported her fellow patients and received support from them.
Samone was preceded in death by her brother Dakari and her uncle Tony. She is survived by her mother Inika, father Damien, sisters Mikealya and Damari, brothers Michael, Matthew, and Denim, bio father Dushawn Baysinger, aunts Folashade, Tendayi, Hazel, Kim, and Eva, uncles Mashambi, Jonathan and Kofi, grandfather Banbose Shango, and grandmother Theresa Newman-Johnson.
Samone was a beloved daughter, an awesome sister, an amazing friend, a brilliant student, a strong fighter. She was just an overall terrific young woman. Her life was short but well lived. We love her. She will not be left behind or forgotten. Ohana!
