Frederick “Fred” Sheppard was born December 28, 1944, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He received his formal education in Port Arthur, TX, & Philadelphia, PA. He received a B.S. in Sociology from Howard University. Fred received an Honorable Discharge after his 4 year tenure with the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergent. He was employed by the United States Postal service for 25 years, where he later retired in the year 2000. They affectionately called him “Shep”. In 1972, while working at Woodward & Lorthrop, he met his, then girlfriend, Martha A. Edmonds. After seven months of dating, they marred on October 12, 1973. To this union, they were blessed with 2 children, Marques Rasheed, and Melissa Ann. On February 18, 2020, Fred received his Heavenly wings. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 46 years, Martha Sheppard, a son, Marques Rasheed (Khadijah), a daughter, Melissa Ann, 2 grandchildren, Jayden, & Samantha, a wonderful niece, Deneene Smith. He, also, leaves behind a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces & nephews. Preceeded in death was is his parents, Martin Sheppard & Alice Smith Gonzales, brother, Pablo Gonzales, sister-in-law, Ellen Gonzales, parents-in-law, Frank & Vernell Edmonds, 2 brothers-in-law, Frank & Emmet Edmonds.
