Obituary of Leola Melvey
Leola B Melvey was born in Scotland Neck N.C., on September 12th 1936. She was the third oldest in her Family, Born to Bertha Whitaker and George Baker. She was raised in the sleepy southern farm village of
Scotland Neck, which is a town in Halifax County, North Carolina with a population of 2339 in the 1930s and she was a resident of Alexandria, VA at the time of her death, on April 22ed, 2020.
Leola B. Melvey had graduated from, the Hospital of Joint Diseases Nursing School (Now known as NYU Hospital) having achieved a 3.5 GPA in Medical Nursing Studies. As a Healthcare professional, she loved her job. She started her career at Peninsula General Hospital, in Far Rockaway, N.Y on staff and working the night shift. After relocating to Hampton, Va. she continued as a Staff nurse for the Riverside Health System in Newport News, VA.
On April 3, 1960, she married Paul A. for 42 Years until his death on March 18th, 2001(Retired US ARMY) and upon their union, they were blessed with twin boys, Kent Paul a Nassau County Police Officer who preceded her in death( March 11th, 1990), and Keith Paul only Adult Son remains. She leaves behind Granddaughters, Kristina Renee; Amileyon, Juelz, Faith, baby Kamani: Grandson, U.S, Marine, Michael Paul.
A Special Thank you to Aaron A. Woodward IV, Melvin Boston, Vallyn Allsha, Greg Baker, Brian Weekes, and Sister-in-Law Donna Melvey, Each was part of the Family care team to help, provide Love and Support to Leola during her battle with Alzheimer and Dementia Disease. They never turned their backs on her.
