Obituary of Bernadtte Germain
In Loving Memory of Bernadette "Dedette" Germain
Bernadette Germain, daughter of the late Victor Germain and the late Irecia Germain, born on December 7, 1934 in Port-au-Prince Haiti, departed this life April 19, 2020 in Brooklyn New York.
Bernadette was a retired Home Health Aide in Brooklyn New York. She met her future husband Jean Pierre-Louis in Port-au-Prince Haiti and got married. She came to the United States, lived in Adelphi Maryland and Brooklyn New York. She enjoyed being grandma to her two grandsons.
Early in her life as a teenager in Haiti Dedette started to show interests in sewing, subsequently printing, book binding and business. She became a skilled seamstress and enjoyed designing and sewing children's clothes for her sons Roland, John Richard and others. She enjoyed working with and assisting others on financial opportunities. She helped those that needed help whenever she could.
Dedette enjoyed traveling after her retirement from work. Whenever she traveled to Haiti, she sought to financially or by other means help those that were less fortunate than she was as much as she could. She was kind to family members, friends and possessed an unusual ability to ignore transgressions committed by family members and friends against her. People who met her liked her and found her to be very resourceful.
Dedette was predeceased by sisters Germaine Germain, Antoinette Germain, Marie Editte Germain, brothers Edward Stinvil and Tony Germain.
Dedette leaves to cherish her memories: Her sons Roland Pierre-Louis and John Richard Pierre-Louis, grandsons Bradford L. Pace, Christian Cousar, siblings Jacques Germain, Jean Claude Germain, Hector Germain, Marie Bertha Germain; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and a host of other family members and friends.
May Dedette rest in peace and may God keep her in his memory for the resurrection of the dead!
There will be funeral services with restrictions due to COVID-19. A Celebration of Life service is planned for the future after COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
