Remembering Nadine

Nadine Eleanor (Johnson) Williams was born on July 2, 1950 in Washington, DC to Harry Lee Johnson, Sr. and the late Barbara Jean Johnson. It was from the comfort of her home that she received her eternal call to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 14, 2020.

Nadine graduated from Anacostia High School in 1968 and then went on to study at DC Teacher’s College (now known as University of District of Columbia (UDC). She chose to be a legal secretary as a profession, working for several different law firms in the DC Area.

In 1975, Nadine was blessed with her first daughter, Cydne-Ann Armenta. Six years later, in 1981, she welcomed her second daughter, Stephanie Olivia. She had a tremendous love for her two children and in return they blessed her with eleven grandchildren.

In 1983, Nadine began to worship at Evangel Temple (later known as Evangel Church and then Evangel Cathedral). Nadine was often seen kicking off her shoes and praising the Lord in the aisles to Evangel’s musical greats like “No Matter What the Day May Bring, Keep Praising God” and “God Said It, That Settles It”. While at Evangel, she worked on the administrative staff, but her first love for teaching was expressed in the New Member’s Ministry. Her faithful service led to becoming an ordained deacon and she also had the opportunity to write several handbooks for ministers and ministries.

Nadine’s roots at Evangel led her to wedded bliss with Robert Williams in October 19, 2017 and together they joined The Shephard’s House International Christian Church.

Nadine had many loves including Pepsi in a glass, with lots of ice!! She also loved cooking and hosting Thanksgiving dinner, entertaining church members, playing 500, grocery shopping and eating seafood while drinking an occasional beer. She also had a love/hate relationship with scary movies which always proved to be hilarious to her family.

Nadine was preceded in life by her grandmother, Ethel Olivia Lewis, mother, Barbara Jean (White) Johnson and extended family members, Dwight Roberson and John Rutherford

Nadine leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, RobertWilliams; father, Harry Johnson Sr and step-mother Mary; sister,Jean Bea (Johnson) Barner and brother, Harry (Skip) Johnson, Jr.;Her eldest daughter, Cydne-Ann Armenta Wood and her 3 children: Kaisen, Judah and Mehkiah-Lee; And her youngest daughter, Stephanie Olivia (Johnson) Nwokeuku (Renault) and her 8 children: Armenta-Renai, Isaiah, Mic’Kaila, Gianna, Elisha, Gideon, Seven, Israel, along with numerous nieces and nephews: Marques Johnson, Candice (Johnson) Smalls, Barbara Johnson, Spenser Johnson, Cornell Johnson, Demetrius Johnson, Dasia Johnson and MarcellJohnson. Her family would not be made complete without her dearest friends Antionette Wallace, Peggy Roberson and Donna Rutherford, as well as extended sons and daughters consisting ofTheresa (Moreno) Moses, Lenise Rutherford, Noah Roberson, David Roberson, John David Rutherford.

She will be truly missed by all who knew her.
