Obituary of Gerard Gilbert Gayot
Gerard Gilbert Gayot, age 87, died Thursday, July 30, 2020, peacefully at home, in Washington, DC after a brief illness. He loves Haitian music, watching the news, and talking on the phone with friends and family members. ,,
Born in Haiti, Gerard taught Haitian and French Literature at the Lycée Tertulien Guilbaud, in Port-de-Paix. He was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to study in Montreal and then moved to the US. He taught Sociology and was lecturer for several years, in Washington, DC. He continued a successful career for about 30 years, at the Foreign Service Institute, United State Department. There, he taught French and Haitian Creole to the Ambassadors, Consuls and Attaché d’Affairs who would go on to service in West African and various Francophone countries. He was immensely proud of teaching and his students.
Gerard Gilbert Gayot, was a very loving and an admirable man. He is loved by his family, friends and even acquaintances. He leaves behind countless of loves ones: Special friend, Children: Gilberte, Junie, Gerard jr, Grand-Children, Brothers, Sisters, Nephews, Nieces, Cousins and Friends.
