Jacqueline Coleman Jackson, affectionately called “Jackie”
by many, was born on Saturday, September 4, 1937. OnThursday, March 30, 2017 she peacefully entered into the arms of our Heavenly Father and is now resting in her eternal home; a home where there is no more sorrow, no more burdens to bear, no more sickness, and no more pain. She was precededin death by her husband William H. Jackson, Sr., her mother Ruth Coleman Borden, her sister Geraldine J. Johnson and her brother Roland Coleman.

Jacqueline’s early Christian education was at Pilgrim A.M.E. Church and Sunday school. She was very active in the church in many capacities such as membership in the gospel choir and the Agape Club, teaching Sunday school, and lending a helping hand in other church events. She was educated in the DC Public School System, attending CharlesYoung Elementary School, Browne Junior High School, and Spingarn Senior High School. She continued her journey of higher learning at the University of the District of Columbia, earning a Bachelor’s degree as well as completing the curriculum towards her Master’s degree in early childhood education. She later married William H. Jackson.

Jacqueline worked for more than 30 years in various positions in the federal government—starting at the U.S. Department of Defense, where she was stationed at the Pentagon and, years later, ending at the U.S. Department of Education. She retired from the U.S. Department of Education, as a senior research specialist. She dedicated herself to her profession, and was held in high esteem by her co-workers.Throughout the years, she received a number of awards and other accolades for exemplary performance.

Jacqueline had a great love for spending time with family and friends, reading, working with preschoolers and elementary school children, cooking and baking (especially cakes and cookies), and gardening in her yard, as well as an affnity for the lively arts.

Jacqueline leaves to cherish her memory her devoted family-- daughters Michele R. Simmons and Denise P. Primrose,
her son William H. Jackson, Jr., and her niece Sharon J. Young. Her grandchildren, NicolaT. Marshall, Michael K. Simmons,
Jr., Jennifer M. Lockard, Maurice Primrose, Jasmine R. Jackson, and Jamal W. Jackson. Her great-granddaughter Brooke H. Kelly, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
