Obituary of Doris Naomi Jefferson
Doris Naomi Jefferson was born to Harry & Willie Mae Williams in Wilmington, NC on November 11, 1933. She quietly ascended home, the Kingdom of the Highest God on the evening of December 24, 2020.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith”. (2 Timothy 4:7)
Doris attended Williston High School in Wilmington, NC and furthered her education at Lane University Center.
Doris began her professional career after she moved from Wilmington, NC to Washington, DC. She worked as a Federal Government employee with the United States Census Bureau for an illustrious career of twelve years and later retired from the Department of Defense in 1984.
Doris accepted Jesus Christ and through Christian experience she soon became a member at Florida Avenue Baptist Church of Washington, D.C. She was enthralled with Sunday morning worship service where she loved praising God. Over the years, she looked forward to the first Sunday of the month to receive communion from Deacon Michael Russell when she was unable to attend church.
Doris endearing spirit, quick wit, sense of humor and her florescent smile touched so many lives in so many ways, and many are left to treasure.
Doris is survived with love and adoration by her brother Harry Williams Jr.; nephews, Harry L. Williams III (Wanda) and Michael Williams; cousins, Elizabeth Sanders, Sylvia Feldon, Teena Richardson and Terrye Lewis; friends, Vanessa Green, Diannah Lewis and John White as well as a host of other nieces and cousins.
She was preceded in death by both parents Harry L. Williams and Willie Mae Williams; Darrell Steven Williams (son); Mary E. Weeks (sister) and Joyce Williams (sister-n-law).
