Obituary of Eneya Leon

Born in a small town in St. Jean, Haiti on June 28th, 1928, Eneya began her journey through life. Eneya was the second child of Clergilia Clerge and Cheritom Dorce. Eneya, was dedicated to her family. She met and married Thelas Leon in 1945 where they worked hard to provide for her children.   

Eneya worked as a businesswoman in the market where she collected goods and to sell at the local market. After her husband Thelas passed away in 1970, she worked even harder by bringing her market items to church. She did everything to raise her children with love, she was full of energy, and was a hardworking woman.

In 1995, she moved to the States, where she lived with her daughter Mamotte Neuvieme and son in law Jean Neuvieme. The kind of love Eneya had for all her children was without condition. She may not have approved of everything we did, may not have liked some of the decisions we made, but she didn’t judge. She just kept loving us, letting us know that she was there and if we ever needed her, we could count on her to listen, to comfort, to help.

She worked hard when she came to the States babysitting kids at the church for a small fee. She practically was the grandmother to us all. She saved every dollar that she made, saving to apply for visa for the other children she left in Haiti. She lived a simple life. It didn’t take much to make her happy, a mere phone call, or a visit was always enough to make her smile. Her family was the most important people in the world to her. She lived to make our lives better and was proud of us.

Eneya attended Laurel Gospel Assembly under the leadership of Pastor Noisin Raphael where she gave her life to Christ and became a vital part of the assembly. Everyone in the church loved her and called her Nenenn, she was best known for wearing her stylish hats and being well dressed, always wearing a beautiful smile, her ministry was to was to pass out candy to everyone in the church, even adults. She was truly loving. 

Her favorite pass time was to watch wrestling, boxing, or what she called “LIT” She would imitate them so loud where she would be heard from the basement, her favorites were John Cena, Tripple H, Romane, Vilcent, Big Show to name a few. That was indeed her favorite thing to do. She use to bother us to come downstairs when the TV was messed up or she had misplaced the remote. 

On December 18^th, 2020 grandma woke up with a severe pain that required a trip to the emergency room where she was diagnosed with a Gaul bladder infection along with kidney failure and began dialysis. After continuous medicin her body was not responding to treatment and vital organs started to fail. 

On Sunday December 27^th, the family decided to bring Grandma home on hospice care to spend her last days with her loved ones before the New Year. Unfortunately, on Thursday December 31^st, at 5:30am grandma passed away peacefully at Anne Arundel Medical Center Hospital. 

Although, her physical presence will be missed and we are all sadden by the void she left, she lived a phenomenal life. Grandma Thank you for leaving a legacy and for showing us how to love. Rest in Power, until we meet again.  

She was survived by 9 children with Six alives Venita Leon, Lovia Leon, Mamotte Neuvieme, Therese Leon, Jean Leon, Solange Leon. 

She was blessed to have had 19 grandchildren and 18 Great grand children

Also, she had 18 Great grandchildren/Luke Neuvieme, Logan Neuvieme, Jude Julien, Meyline Laborde, Leymene Laborde, Widley Laborde, Kerline Pierre, Hermithe Pierre, Kervens Leon, Vladimyr Leon, Madjina Leon, Achena Leon, Marly Leon, Othniel Leon, Federson Toussaint, Budler Beaucejour, Bulensky Beaucejour, Lewis Beaucejour.
