Obituary of Virginia M. Salcedo
Virginia "Virgie" Malabanan Salcedo, 83 years old, passed to join our Lord on Monday, February 15, 2021 at her home in Silver Spring, MD. Virginia was born on September 2, 1937 in Tanauan Batangas Philippines. She was the last surviving daughter of Icasiana and Leonardo Malabanan, and sister Teresita Apolonio.
Virginia was a loving mother to two sons, Raymond and Ronald Salcedo (wife Malou and dog Pringles). She was a loving aunt to her niece Gladys Hurwitz (husband Josh and daughter Maya), niece/goddaughter Alyssa Gudenius (husband Dan); and nephew Leonardo Apolonio (wife Yaminah and daughter Yael).
Virginia loved, served and honored Jesus with her life. She put God first and was fully dedicated to her Catholic faith. Giving back to her community was very important to Virginia. She showcased this as a loyal member and past president of the Mother Butler Guild of Saint Ann’s Church in Washington, DC for more than 30 years. Saint Ann’s Church also had the privilege of having her as an impactful organizer, lector and fundraiser.
Virginia cared deeply for her family and friends. She possessed an abundance of love and energy which she showered unselfishly on others. Virginia enjoyed the company of others and had great patience. Passionate about helping others, in her last days, she still worked as a counselor supporting and nurturing those with disabilities at the Arc Montgomery County. To know and love her is a joy. Virginia's sweet charm, smile, gentle voice and vibrant personality will never be forgotten.
Due to her sudden passing, we honor our beloved Virginia by having a funeral fundraiser in lieu of flowers. Any contribution amount is greatly appreciated. Please share this obituary page via social media platforms, email and text. To donate any amount, please click the RED donation button.
