Obituary of Del-Lano Carlton Jones
Del-Lano Carlton Jones entered hearts on March 9, 1964 and our hearts were broken on February 14, 2021.
Sadly, Del-Lano (known affectionately as Big Shot to his family and friends) passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 14, 2021. He was 56. The world has lost a father, brother, uncle, and friend. He leaves a lifetime of fun, love, and memories to those who knew him.
Del-Lano was born on March 9, 1964, in Washington D.C. He graduated from Crossland Senior High School in 1982 and attended DeVry Institute in Atlanta Georgia. Del-Lano had several jobs throughout his career, mostly in customer service in the insurance industry. He recently returned to one of his early and most natural skills – barbering.
Del-Lano loved his family and friends, frequently hanging out with his brothers and close childhood friends. One of Del-Lano’s proudest accomplishments was becoming a father. If you ask 100 people, “Who was Del-Lano?” you may get an array of responses, but stylish, funny, and entertaining would be among the most common answers. Overall, as one of his brothers said “Del-Lano lived his life exactly how he wanted”. In typical Del-Lano fashion he had all the fun and leaves us to mourn. He also leaves us with a reminder that life is short … so love, live, laugh, and enjoy!!
Del-Lano is survived by his daughter Victoria Jones, brothers Rosial Jones Jr., Darrell Jones, and Roderick Jones, sister Shon Miller and God-sister Shawn Johnson, as well as one uncle, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
We are thankful that Del-Lano’s sister witnessed as he prayed to receive Christ in 1998. This bring us comfort knowing that his soul is covered by the blood of Jesus. Del-Lano Carlton Jones was very much loved and will be greatly missed.
In the spring, Del-Lano’s family will hold a Celebration of Life in his honor.
In Loving Memory
Del-Lano Jones
