Obituary of Melisha D. Eaglin
On Friday, February 26, 2021, Melisha Cutler Eaglin, loving wife and mother of two children passed away at the age of 69.
Melisha was born on November 26, 1951, in Branchville, VA to James and Ada Cutler. She pursued higher education at Howard University in Washington, DC, and dedicated over 35 years of service to the Central Intelligence Agency as an analyst. On August 13, 1977, she married Washington, D.C. native and fellow Howard student Jerel Eaglin. Together, they lovingly raised two daughters, Malina and Amari.
Melisha, also known as “Lish” was known for her sunny outlook on life. She always motivated others to go after their dreams and conquer the world in whatever way made them happy. Lish could light up a room with her laughter and kind smile. Her smile was as bright as she was. Anyone who spent time with her would be sure to leave with a funny anecdote or sore cheeks from laughing. It was in her nature to be positive and we all loved her for it.
Melisha loved working in her home garden, discovering new restaurants, and she loved cinema, even from a young age. Melisha also adored fashion and designing clothes. Her love for wearable art translated into every stylish ensemble she wore. She worked at clothing boutiques in Washington, D.C., and loved showcasing her eclectic style on Howard’s campus. She was known for rarely being seen wearing the same earrings twice, as she loved collecting rare jewelry. Although she adored accessories, she always said her most precious gems were her two daughters. She loved being a mother and spending time with them. She affectionately named her daughters “The Sweet Girls.” Loving and caring for them was when she was most happy.
Melisha was preceded in death by her father, James. She is survived by her husband Jerel, daughters, Amari and Malina, mother Ada Cutler, sister Darlene Cutler Ellis, brother-in-law Danny Ellis, and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends.
Melisha confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior and was therefore baptized, joining Tenth Street Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor John L. Henry.
