Obituary of Chris Elaine English
Chris Elaine (McDaniel) English, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 20, 2021 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was a beloved wife and best friend to her college sweetheart, Bryan L. English for 16 years.
Chris was born on March 17, 1977 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to William Harvey and Althea Elaine McDaniel. She was raised in the Greater Emmanuel Church under Bishop Wade Jones. Chris was educated in Pittsburgh Public Schools where she excelled and received many accolades. She graduated from George Westinghouse High School in 1995. With early aspirations to be a lawyer, Chris attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology/Pre-law in 1999, and a Master of Science degree in Criminology. Her career spans over 25 years in the criminal justice field, with her most recent 12-year tenure as a Community Supervisor Officer in the District of Columbia as part of the high-intensity supervision team.
In January of 2005, Chris married the love of her life, Bryan, who she met while attending college. Throughout their courtship they shared each other's thoughts, memories and enjoyed playing games like, Ms. Pac-Man. Becoming friends first and eventually falling in love, they protected each other and together they navigated life’s obstacles. In 2006, Chris and Bryan relocated their family to Bowie, Maryland, where they lived for several years before making Waldorf, Maryland their current home. With her commitment to, and love for God, she became an active member of First Baptist Church of Glenarden in 2009.
Chris was a dedicated member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated in which she was initiated on April 27, 1997, in the Rho Rho Chapter at IUP. She eventually became a member of the Psi Epsilon Omega Chapter, in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Chris was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, who could be seen every Sunday wearing black and gold and rooting for her team with her Terrible Towel. Chris was known as a giver and supporter to all who surrounded her. She will be remembered for many things including her wit and humor; reverence for and loyalty to her parents; fidelity to her siblings; dedication to her husband; and motivation for her sons.
Preceded in death by her siblings, Lamont William Harvey Jr., and Sara McDaniel, Chris is lovingly remembered by her husband, Bryan L. English; sons, Preston English, Devin (Tyra Beche) English and Bryan C. English; grandchildren, Maliah, Na’Khia, Leiara, and Presley; her parents, William Harvey and Althea Elaine McDaniel; brothers, Daryl (Vicky) McDaniel and Fred (Michelle) McDaniel; in-laws, Eddie and Bonnie English; brother-in-law, Joseph (Della) English; and sister-in-law, Anita (Kim) Goatley. Chris was loved by her aunts, Louise (Frank), Delores, and Sara; godmother, Nataline Crawley; best friend of 29 years, April Eberhardt, and a host of cousins, and other family and friends.
