Isiah was a wonderful person -- very kind and generous, with an infectious smile. No matter what the issue was at work, if you asked, Isiah would help. We would often talk about working in and on the yard, and things that needed to be improved in the house. One of our favorite topics was decorating for Christmas. He would ask me, or I would ask him, "Have you put the lights on the outside yet?" Then a few weeks later, "Ora have you taken those lights off the shrubbery? Don't wait until Easter." When dealing with technology, he would always tell me, "It's never as hard as you think. You just have to get in there and try." Our grandchildren are the same age, so we were both celebrating at the same time. I felt like I knew his family, because he shared so many photos. I was so very, very sorry to hear of his passing. Carmen, Lisa and Kea, you are in my thoughts and prayers,

It was an absolute joy and pleasure to work with Isiah (and Carmen) over the years at the U.S. Department of Education, Federal Student Aid. Isiah was a true gentleman and a ‘jewel’ that will always be remembered. Isiah, a true man of faith and such an amazing and loving person - never saw him without that winning smile on his face. I looked forward to a morning greeting as only Isiah could deliver. As he entered retirement, it was exciting to know that he planned to travel and see the world through his love of photography, relax, enjoy long trips in his corvette, and simply indulge in the love of family and friends. I am honored to have known Isiah.
Carmen, Kea and Lisa - thank you for sharing such an amazing man with us. Sending my prayers and condolences to the Dupree family during this tough time. Peace, Love and Blessings Always ~Cindy Battle

I am deeply sorry for the loss of Isiah and the heartache of Carmen, Kea, Lisa, and all family and friends struggling with his passing. I first "met" Isiah thru Carmen's stories and conversation at work. I was lucky to then work with Isiah for several years, coming to know Isiah as a reliable source of gentle creative inspiration, humor, and appreciation. Isiah helped me make the right "equipment choices" when I got ready to travel to Italy for the first time and it was in part due to his encouragement that I began to see photography as something I could do and enjoy. When Isiah retired, I felt happy for him to be able to travel, relax, and simply indulge in the love of life, family, friends, and faith. I am honored to have known Isiah, I am struggling with this loss, which seems too soon, and nonetheless find comfort in knowing the joy and love he shared with Carmen, Kea, and Lisa will endure. We'll miss you, Isiah. - Jen Ryder

It was indeed an honor and pleasure to know Isiah as a fellow father and grandfather. As a fellow Trustee of Metropolitan A.M.E. Church and as a fellow photographer. Most of all, I was blessed to call him - Friend ! Never saw him without a smile on his face. Rest in Victory, he has now "Graduated To Glory" with The Master's Degree for his faithful service. A true Masterpiece that has now received The Master's Peace.

It was absolutely a pleasure to work with Isiah (and Carmen) during our time at the U.S. Department of Education. What always struck me about Isiah was how smooth he was--down to his glide of a walk--and that winning smile! He was also very knowledgeable about our business, and was a ready source of information and expertise when needed most. Always helpful, always friendly, always faithful. He was one of quiet demeanor, but we lost a big presence in many ways. Sending my prayers and condolences to Carmen and the Dupree family during this tough time.

First, my deepest and most heartfelt condolences to his family. I met Isiah many years ago as a colleague at the U.S. Department of Education. Though I lived and worked in Atlanta, GA, trips to headquarters in Washington, DC always included a visit to my friend Isiah. We would talk of many things but always got around to fast cars (his “Beast” of a Corvette) and motorcycles (me of Harley-Davidsons). He always had a smile on his face and in his voice and his friendship brought one to my heart…I will miss him.

God's Garden
God looked around His Garden and found an empty place.
He then looked down upon the earth and saw your tired face.
He put His arms around you and lifted you to rest.
God's garden must be beautiful ;
He always take the best.
He saw the road was getting rough, and the hills were hard to climb, so
He closed your weary eyelids and whispered , "Peace be thine" It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn't go alone for parts of went with you the day God called you home. Love Barbara DuPree(Sister-in Law)

I worked with both Isiah and Carmen at Federal Student Aid. Isiah had an electric smile and always made me laugh. I could depend on him whenever we traveled for work to help me find a good restaurant for a bite to eat at, tease me about needing to eat healthier, poke at me about being on time for meetings and to have a Diet Coke in his hand whenever I saw him. He was a good man who bubbled over whenever he talked about his family. My prayers are with you all. May wonderful memories be forever in your hearts.

Isiah!! I would shout out his name in the morning at work and he would smile and say ...you so crazy Gail...I knew this would make him laugh and I did it everday!! Jesus called a brilliant man of God home. For my sisters 70th birthday, Isiah volunteered to take the pictures! He did an excellent job as usual. He was a spiritual advisor for me and one thing for certain, two things for sure, he loved the Lord!! I always teased him about driving the church bus and told him to come and pick me up take me to his church. He invited me to his church and I had a great time!! That is the kind of man he is, a true Christian, friend, a great father and grandfather and loving husband and all around nice guy. Also, not to be undone with his love for fashion. He was always dressed well. I will miss you Isiah, but I know that Jesus loves you more...rest in peace my friend

I am profoundly saddened by the transition of my dear friend and colleague at the Department of Education, Ike. Not only did we become friends but later found out that we had several Sumpter South Carolina connection and Chevrolet Corvette appreciation. As a matter of fact, just before his hospitalization, we talked and he gave me so suggestions as to what I needed to look for in buying a more current “Vette”. I took his advice, drove to North Carolina and purchased one but did not get the opportunity to share the good news with him. He was a God-fearing man (as I am) so I can’t wait to see him again to continue that conversation. Carmen, Kea and Lisa although we have yet to meet face to face (thank you Carmen for the updates), you guys will always be in my prayers.
