Obituary of Marie Juliette Metellus
Marie Juliette Metellus (Née Thébeau), loving mother, devoted wife and faithful servant was born on June 22, 1954 in Timouyaj, a small beach town in Cayes Jacmel, Haiti. Born to Pierre Jeudy and Freda Thebeau, she was the youngest of two daughters.
Juliette grew up in Port-au-Prince where she met Jean Édouard Metellus. With a love story spanning decades, Juliette married her high school sweetheart, Jean Édouard in 1987 and went on to have two daughters, Jenny and Wildina.
In the years that followed, Jean and Juliette moved to the U.S.
With the family fully united in the States in 1999, Juliette and her husband would go on to settle and work in Silver Spring, MD, as well as become beloved members of the Laurel Gospel Assembly church.
Known for her generosity and warmth, Juliette had the unique ability to make all those around her feel like family. This ability extended even to her employment as a private nanny. For nearly 20 years, Juliette worked as a nanny to the Walker-Marchant family and their beloved daughter, Rebecca. Nannying and helping to raise Rebecca brought Juliette much joy and she would often remark that she considered her as one of her very own like Jenny and Wildina.
Juliette was a faithful servant and member of the Laurel Gospel Assembly church for 30 years and was loved by all. The people of God, both local and abroad (Haiti) were very dear to her and many were marked by her kindness and liberality in giving.
After a long-fought battle with Multiple Myeloma, a form of cancer that affects bone marrow, Juliette passed away on the evening of May 21, 2021.
Marie Juliette Metellus is preceded in death by her father Pierre Jeudy, her mother Freda Thebeau, and her beloved sister Marie Laure Thebeau.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years Jean Edouard Metellus; two daughters, Wildina Metellus and Jenny Metellus Pierre, and her husband, Paul Pierre; beloved nieces, Barbara Calixte, Rebecca Laborde and Claire Jean-Baptiste, her adoptive son Reggy Clergé, her stepson, Jeanky Metellus.
