Obituary of Ethan Allen Morgan

Please share a memory of Ethan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Ethan Allen Morgan was born on April 2, 1965, in Washington, DC to Dorothy and Woodrow Morgan. He was the oldest of three boys, who was affectionately known as E. or E.T. by his fam- ily and friends.

Ethan attended the District of Columbia Public School System. He was raised primarily by his grandmother, Jeralean Covert (aka Mother Dear). Mother Dear ensured that all her grandchil- dren went to church. This spiritual foundation led Ethan to ask his wife cousin, Melinda to help him rededicate his life to Christ. Ethan grew up in a household with his mom, brothers, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was blessed by God with leadership skills, and an abundance of gifts and talents.

Ethan was a family man. He met and married the "love of his life," Kim. They have six children, Crystal, Marvin, Marcell, Dmitri, Latifa and Shaquane. He also has six grandchildren, Jerome, Nevaeh, Lil Ethan (aka DayDay), Heaven, Az-Zahra and Ma'Lah.

Ethan enjoyed spending time with his family during their Saturday night gatherings and Sunday evening dinners. He also enjoyed going to see his favorite Go-Go bands, Rare Essence & Proper Utensils with wife, Kim and friends. He loved to discuss current events and politics. So much so, that he made sure that all his children registered to vote when they turned 18. Ethan exempli- fied what it meant to be a family man. He protected, provided, and nurtured his wife and children.

As a young boy, Ethan loved nature and swimming. He would often go to the creek with his brothers and his neighborhood friends to bring home turtles, frogs, snakes, fish, and other reptiles. He also enjoyed going to the neighborhood swimming pool to cool off during the sum- mer. Ethan was an outstanding painter, artist, and athlete. He would often paint, clean, and shampoo carpets whenever requested.

In the early 90’s, he began playing recreational touch football. His brother Derrick started a football team called the Wolverines. Ethan and his brother Marcus along with their neighbor- hood friends all joined the team. The team traveled to Ohio, Florida, Pennsylvania, and other states to play football. Ethan was an outstanding football player, who helped his team win at least 10 Football Championships. And of course, he was a die-hard Redskins fan!

Ethan leaves a legacy of strength and love. He was a bright light that guided his family with integrity. No matter what he faced in life, he never complained. He was an overcomer, who showed unconditional love and kindness to all of his family and friends.

Ethan Morgan leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Kim Morgan; six children, Crystal, Marvin, Marcell, Dmitri, Latifa and Shaquane; grandchildren, Jerome, Nevaeh, Lil Ethan (Day Day), Heaven, Az-Zahra and Ma'Lah; daughter-in-law, Shahidah; brothers, Derrick and Marcus; one surviving aunt, Hazeline Covert; two surviving uncles, Vincent and Larry Covert and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to cherish his loving memory.
