Obituary of Andra Robert Moody
Andra Robert Moody was born to Wilbert Lee Moody and Gertie Macon Moody on September 21, 1971, in Washington DC. He departed this life on August 3, 2021, in Alexandria, VA.
At a very young age Andra moved from Washington, DC to Rocky Mount, NC with his family. He received his formal education in the Edgecombe County Public Schools until he transferred to Northern Nash High School. Early in life Andra developed a lifelong love of sports. During high school Andra played football and basketball as well as participated in wrestling and weightlifting. Andra dedicated his life to Christ at Foster Memorial Missionary Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, NC where he served on the usher board and in the choir.
Andra returned to the Maryland and Virginia areas during his young adult life and fellowshipped with local churches to include Vision Ministries. Andra shared information about his religious experiences and his personal relationship with God with family and friends.
During his course of employment, Andra worked in many areas of construction, HVAC and various other jobs. He worked on sites including the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, Children’s Hospital, and residential areas of City Center. Andra was a member of the IBEW Local Union #26 for 10 years where he achieved Commercial Electrician status. Additionally, Andra was an Electrical Service Technician with Anderson Electrical Services.
Andra was a proud father and grandfather; a loving, helpful, and supportive brother; and a good friend. Andra was preceded in death by both of his parents and his two brothers: Howard D. Moody and Wallace J. Moody.
Andra leaves to cherish his memory: a best friend, Susan Joseph; and their daughter, Kendra Joseph-Moody of Hyattsville MD; two granddaughters, Nova Jae Deans and Navy Rose Deans both of Hyattsville MD; two sisters, Vivian Moody Artis (James), of Fort Washington, MD; and Wilma Moody Batts (Roscoe), of Rocky Mount, NC; two nephews, Marcus Anderson, of Elm City, NC and Lafayette Anderson, of Woodbridge, VA; three nieces, Jennifer Turnage, of Washington, DC, Laura Parker, of Columbia, MD and Kiara Batts of Winston-Salem, NC; two uncles, seven aunts, and a host of cousins
