On Friday, August 27, 2021, Sandra “Sandy” Theresa Lindsey, devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend was called to be with the Lord and with her late husband at the age of 78.  Sandy was baptized at Saint Stephen Baptist Church at an early age and was a faithful servant of God until her very last breath.

Sandy was born June 12, 1943 to the late John Thomas Pryor and the late Maxine Rogers, in Dahlgren, VA at her Aunt Madonna’s house.  In King George, Virginia, she spent her first 5 years (and was the first grandchild) with her late grandparents Charles Henry Pryor (Papa) and Queen Ester Pryor (Mama) including her father, aunts and uncles until she had to go to school.  Sandy returned home to live with her mom Maxine on the Rogers’ property behind her Uncle Stephen’s and began her kinship with her aunts, uncles and cousins (Rogers).  She was the third granddaughter of Allen T and Carrie Belle Rogers. She was truly loved by both sets of her parents' family.  Sandy attended Ralph Bunche High School in King George County, VA  and was an exceptional student focused on her education, a sports player and a spelling bee winner!

Sandy was blessed with a daughter Cassie and decided to move to Washington, DC to stay with her cousin’s Louis and Phyllis Smallwood for a better life.  Later she met the love of her life, Charles “Phil” Lindsey (predeceased) and was united in marriage April 30, 1977.  This union included her daughter Cassandra (Cassie) O. Pryor (predeceased), son William C. Lindsey, step-daughter Lois Lindsey, and her baby daughter DeVoni D. (DeDee) Lindsey-Gale.  Phil and Sandy blended together and created a union filled with love, life and laughter.

Sandy spent over 30 years working at C&P Telephone company (Verizon) today.  She met a lot of people and established worthy friendships with many.  She loved her work family dearly who quickly became “family”. She was a very hard worker and played just as hard; her career was filled with happiness, love, fun times and with great people.  She loved each and everyone of them.

Sandy was a phenomenal woman.  She was the best wife, mother and grandmother she could be.  She loved hard and strong (with all her might), she loved to have fun and make sure others did as well.  She was a confidant to many, fierce when it came to her children (unless it was a snake), creative (could do almost anything), and kind (would be there for anyone).  She was ambitious for her children (determined to make sure we were loved and cared for) and very compassionate to her entire family and friends (opening her home and heart to all).  She was intelligent and insightful (didn’t mind sharing her skills). She enjoyed cooking (everyday was Sunday), listening and dancing to music while spending time with her family.  She loved doing trivia and watching game shows.  She was loved by so many, and will be missed by all.

Sandy was preceded in death by her mother, Maxine Rogers; Tommy Pryor (father); Phil Lindsey, (husband); Cassie Pryor (daughter); and Adrian Gale (son-in-law).

Sandy leaves to cherish and live on her legacy she built with her daughter DeDee, grandson Vinnie, grand-daughters (Lindsey, DEE DEE and NaNa).  She also leaves to cherish her memory with William (son), lois (step-daughter), grandchildren Vanesha, Charles, TJ (predeceased), lolita. Her sister Mary Polk, her forever cousin Phyllis Smallwood, her Verizon family and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends.
