Obituary of John Willie Jackson

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

John ‘Willie’ Jackson son of the late Mary Lois Jackson and Nathaniel Jackson was born on September 5, 1948 in Sanford, North Carolina.  He departed this earthy life on September 2, 2021.

Willie was educated in the DC Public Schools. Working with his hands was his true gift, considered a “jack of all trades”.

Willie worked for the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Constitution Hall as an engineer. He retired September 17, 1994.  During his time at DAR he gained advanced engineering skills.

Willie enjoyed working on small engines and loved hand dancing; he was known as one of the best hand dancers in the DC club Chateau. He was renowned for his attire, especially his shoes and hats.  Willie styled and profiled in a way that was truly and uniquely his own.  Moreover, he was a great resource to family and friends on repairs, electric and plumbing.  He had all the tools that you would ever need to borrow.

He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized.  He rededicated his life in 1993 and became a member of the Mission Assembly of God. Under the leadership of the late Bishop McKinney, he served as a deacon and worked closely with Bishop McKinney in many other areas of ministry.  Willie was not ashamed of his rebirth in Christ, during family gatherings and special holidays he would always praise and acknowledge his Lord Jesus Christ.

Willie was united in holy matrimony to Joyce Toler on September 14, 2009.

In addition to his parents, Willie was proceeded in death by his brother Timothy Jackson and nephew Kevin Jackson.

Memories of his life will be cherished by: wife Joyce Toler Jackson, son John Jackson (Nikol), daughter Chenee Brown step children Vernon Toler, Greg Toler; grandchildren; Chantel Walker, Danielle Tylor, Mercer Jackson, Gregory Jr.; niece Sydney Toler; siblings Nathaniel Randolph Jackson, Thelma, E, Jackson, Joyce Jackson Hickman (Mike), JoAnn Jackson, Anthony Jackson (Maria), Jeannette Jackson and Mark Jackson. His aunt Elizabeth Plush, four sisters-in-laws, four brothers-in-laws and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
