Obituary of Sharon Faye Benson
On Saturday, October 2, 2021, Sharon Faye Benson departed this life and entered into eternal rest. Sharon, daughter of the late Artie Rush and Essie Mae Wilkins, was born on July 9, 1954, in Washington DC.
Sharon received her education from DC Public Schools. In her early adulthood, she married her husband, Joseph M. Benson Jr. and became a military wife and homemaker as well as a private daycare provider. Later, she became a Home health Aide and was loved by her clients.
Sharon was a faithful member of “Healing the Land Ministries”, under the pastorate of Bishop Douglass E.
Williams, for many years. She loved spreading the gospel to anyone who was willing to receive it.
Sharon was affectionately known to her Grandchildren as “Mama”. She enjoyed gardening and reaping the harvest of the things she planted. She also loved cooking and trying new recipes which she shared with her daughters. She was a huge fan of QVC and youtube. She loved sharing stories about the things she learned online. She was very caring, kind, and enjoyed helping others. She was the glue that held us all together.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers ;Ronald and Melvin Rush; sister, Nancy Kelly, and grandson’s DeSean and Demetrius Benson.
Left to cherish her memory is her devoted husband Joseph Benson Jr., her daughters; Angela, LaShonda and Renell, Grandchildren; Marcus, Shakia, DeAngelo, Tyree and Amari, six Great Grandchildren, Sisters, Gloria, LaVerne, Deborah and Gwendolyn and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
