Obituary of James Lawrence Howerton

On December 31, 2021, The Lord called James Lawrence Howerton, 66, of Capitol Heights, MD to his Heavenly Place. 

James was born on October 6, 1955, to James E. and Shirley E. Howerton in Halifax, VA. After attending school in Halifax, James entered the workforce and became a truck driver. 

In 1985, he met Dorothy at work, and they became friends. The friendship grew into a loving relationship, and they wed in 2002. James leaves behind three loving daughters, Jacqueline, Patrece (Julius), and Krystal. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Julyssa, Serenety, Malania, and Julius.

After leaving the work force, James spent his time providing lawn care to people in his community. He also enjoyed working on cars, watching sports, and spending time with his family. 

James was preceded in death by both his parents. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, children, grandchildren, grandmother Mary Mayo, uncles Harry (Frances) and Wille (Gloria) Howerton and a host of other relatives and close friends.
