Obituary of Jacqueline Ruth Campbell
Jacqueline Ruth Campbell was born in Washington D.C. on December 29, 1941 to the late Alma Payne Johnson and Elbert Payne. She peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on Thursday, November 16, 2017, at Washington Hospital Center. She had a strong faith and a healthy relationship with the Lord.
‘’Jackie’’ or ‘’Aunt Jackie’’ as her friends and family affectionately called her, re-located to New York where she grew up and received her formal education. After graduation, she returned to Washington, D.C. to ultimately find her long lasting career at Howard University Hospital. Her time at Howard spanned over thirty years.
What she most enjoyed was spending quality time with loved ones. From hosting game nights, cookouts, and special occasions, she also enjoyed watching movies, playing cards, trips to the casino, reading, and had an amazing gift to assemble multi-thousand piece puzzles in just a short few days.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers (Jerome and Joel). She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Kim Harris (Michael), her sons Kevin Campbell (Kimberly), Kent Campbell, and Shawn Campbell (Tammie); five grand-daughters, Andrea¸ Ashley, Jamie, Robin, and Brooke; four grandsons, Kevin Jr., Shawn Jr., Mike Jr., and Jayden, and a host of great grand children, nieces, nephews, sister-in-laws, cousins, and a long list of dear friends.
Jackie was always a positive thinker. She believed in family first and could always find the good in everyone. She will be remembered for her big heart and endless generosity.
