Remembering Johnny

Johnny H. Satterwhite, Jr. was born on January 23, 1965, in Washington, D.C. He was the second child within the marriage of the late Johnny H. Satterwhite Sr., and Gertrude M. Satterwhite. On Sunday,January 9, 2021, he entered eternal rest.

Johnny was educated in the District of Columbia Public School system. Johnny played basketball in school and for Jelleff Recreation Center. He received many basketball trophies. He held many jobs in the DMVarea.

Johnny received Christ at a young age and periodically attended Greater Mount Calvary Holy Church.Recently, he joined and became a member of Church of the Great Anointing in Temple Hills, MD. Johnny was a loving gentle giant; he did not mind doing anything he could to help you. He was a laid back guy; he was not a person of many words and had a calm spirit. He would speak with youth who were travelling the road less travelled through his road experiences. Johnny and I shared and conversed a great deal, and I never heard him damn or degrade away one.

In one of the happier chapters of his life, Johnny met Kandis Henderson. They became best friends, and their friendship grew into love. Johnny and Kandis were married on and November 21, 2016.

Johnny is proceeded in death by his parents Johnny Satterwhite, Sr. and Gertrude Satterwhite, Grandparents Harrison and Carrie Ward: James H. and Bishop Marie H. Reed, Catherine and James Jackson and sister Debra Weems: nephew Sean Coleman- Bey.

Those left to cherish his precious memories; wife Kandis Satterwhite, three daughters Aleshia Satterwhite, Tashina Young and Kamille Henderson: three sisters, Carmilla Satterwhite, Denise Montgomery (Frank) andMelody Coleman-Bey; two brothers James Reed (Kim) and Thomas Weems: eight grandchildren DaShawn, Alayja, Kinayja, DaMarrion, Alaliyah and Adrian: nieces Dominique Satterwhite, Danielle and JacqualynReed, Dominique Weems, and Nazia Edwards; nephews D’Angelo Satterwhite, Adrian Jordan, Dant’eColeman-Bey, Darnell Jr, and DeAndre and Narvarous Weems.
