Obituary of Thomas Scott Gary

Thomas Scott Gary was affectionately known as Scott.  His friends also called him Squirt. He was born August 2,1969 and was called to the pearly white gates February 4, 2022. Scott left a lot of memories behind with so many people that he loved and loved him. Scott was raised in the DMV area and at some point he lived in Virginia, DC and Maryland. He went to West Potomac High school, and at the time it was called Groveton High School. Scott was a hard worker, and very dedicated to his job. He started with Genesis Logistics in 2007 as a truck driver delivering for 7/11, and ended his term as the Transportation Manager. He loved telling his story about where all the new 7/11 stores were located.

Scott always represented the Washington Redskins. He loved his football team. Scott had a heart transplant on August 6, 2020, and had his one year celebration of a new life with a new heart. Scott gave his life to Christ on Dec 29, 2020. He loved seafood, spaghetti, and he loved him some Potato Salad (not everyone’s). He loved watching Sanford & Son. His favorite movies that he would watch more than once were Forest Gump, Tombstone, Belly and Shottas. He was always watching the A&E channel and loved watching the Nature Channel. He loved music, he loved taking drives to just listen to his music. He was a fan of the late Tina Marie, Dave Hollister, Jaheim, Jon B, Eric Robinson, the late Phyllis Hyman, and Charlie Wilson. Kelly Price was his girl, and he was in love with Monica. Tasha Cobb got him through the storm.

Scott always showed support to his Best Friend/Brother from another mother DaWayne “Pooh” Ready, go-go band EVO Xperience Band and loved his North East Groover and Rare Essence. Scott spent most of his time with his kids or with his lil lady Cocoa, the family dog. Scott was married to his ex-wife Netty “Koko” Harris in 2004-2018. They continued to have a good relationship through the end of his last day. They’ve shared their time with their kids and co-parented together making sure that the kids had their parents all the time. Scott and Koko had a friendship and bond that would never be broken. Scott loved life. He appreciated having his kids in his life. He loved the relationship him and his mother Elizabeth Wilson shared, and he was a good son. He made it a point to be there for his mom, and they would take rides just to get away from life. Scott was known by everyone to be the one who always had the smart mouth. He always had something to say about someone and always gave you this Chester the Cat smirk like whatever. His favorite line was ” ur a bamma 4 lyfe!” or Moe!” Scott was always ahead of the game with his kids, trying to stay on their level all the time.

Scott was the only person I knew who stayed at the nail salon more than his sister Angela Gary. He loved keeping his nails and toes done. Scott loved getting on people’s nerves, but you could never stay mad because he always found a way to make you smile.

If you never knew him Scott had a heart, and he always made sure to look out for those he loved. When he was able to start moving around, he made it a point to check on his uncle “Jimmy” Gary from his father’s side and help him work on the buses or help clean the lot with his uncle. Scott had dreams; when he was younger he wanted to be an air pilot. He wanted to drive big trucks and then he wanted to pursue his own business, but God had other plans for him. One thing Scott did when he gave his life to Christ, was he made sure to love everyone unconditionally and he touched so many lives because he was that man, that son, that brother, that husband, that father, that nephew and that Friend.

Scott leaves behind his mother Elizabeth Wilson, his sister Angela Gary, His ex-wife Netty “Koko” Harris, his three children Stephen Harris, Maliya Harris, and Savannah Gary, his family dog Cocoa, his nephews, great nephews, nieces, cousins, uncles, aunties, and extended family and friends. He is at the heavenly table with his father, the late Thomas Gary, his late grandparents, his uncle, his stepfather, his Aunt and others that were a part of his life that are in the Heavenly Sky.
