Obituary of Alodele Francois Sidibe

Alodéle Francois Sidibé (Adéle) was called to rest on May 7, 2022 after having lived a
full life of service at the age of 72.

Adéle was born in Moron, Haiti on June 20th, 1949, to parents,Obéne Jean Francois,
and mother, Neli Deville. She was the 2nd born of 7 siblings whose names are
Guilaise, Jesula, Glandel, Lidonelle, Imaïque, and Obéne Filse (Fritz).

Adéle was before all, a dedicated Servant of God. She was also a loving wife, an
adoring mother, a cherished aunt, a pioneering videographer, a phenomenal chef of
Haitian cuisine, and an afrocentric fashionista.

At age 5, following the untimely passing of her eldest sister, Guilaise, Adéle was forced
to promptly assume the role of first born. This event sparked the development of a
nurturing and protective spirit for which she was known for during her lifetime. This
meant that she was attentive to the school tuition needs of her family, making sure that
nieces and nephews received the financial support needed to continue their education.

Move to France and Return to Haiti

Adéle would later travel to Paris, where she met and fell in love with Abou Sidibe. The
two married in 1974 and became totally inseparable for the duration of their marriage.

After growing discontent with life in Paris, the two left for Haiti in 1980 with plans to open
a restaurant once there.

Adéle was a radiant and charismatic individual, a people’s person with a special talent
for fashion and cooking haitian cuisine. With Abou having recently completed a
Restaurant Management course in Paris, the duo opened the Tonmtonm Bar
Restaurant. Named after a popular haitian dish from her hometown of Moron (located in
the South of Haiti), the place quickly became a thriving spot during its period from the
early to late 80’s. Attracting various locals and dignitaries seeking a taste of her most
scrumptious dishes within the backdrop of a hip and festive atmosphere.

Leaving for America

Following the tragic loss of her father, Obéne (Papa Obéne), during a robbery of the
Tonmtonm Bar Restaurant, Adele, Abou their baby boy Ibrahim, and her mother, Neli
left Haiti for the US in 1990 where they took asylum in Silver Spring, MD (joining her
sister Jesula) to raise their blossoming family.

During this time, she became a member of the haitian Gospel Assembly Church, led by
Pastor Raphael Noisin. Its ministry and members were a light and a constant source of
support over decades. Adéle was later joined in faith by her husband Abou.
Adéle’s love of life was on full display through her passion for videography. Witnessing
the need for church services to be recorded, she started attending with a camcorder
and tripod in hand, and began filming. Eventually, she accumulated a library of events
ranging from engagements and weddings to graduation ceremonies and baptisms
which she later posted to her Youtube platform (“CDB La Marquise”), for all to see.
Due to this initiative, a historical record of the growth and blossoming of the Maryland
Gospel Assembly Church was established. A legacy that is continued to this day.

Surviving Family Members

Adéle is survived by her husband Abou Sidibe, son, Ibrahim Sidibe, and her siblings,
Jesula Francois Paisible, Lidonelle Romain, Joseph Imaïque Francois, and Obén Filse
(Fritz) Francois. As well as several other nieces and nephews that include Hercule
Francois, Pascale Angela Francois, Angelique Romain, Angeliqua Romain, Princeloo
Alexandre, Christopher Paisible, Daphne Paisible, James Paisible and a host of other
family members and friends.
