YVETTE BLEUS OBITUARY

Marie Yvette Bleus passed away in Silver Spring, Maryland on May 27, 2022, with her children by her side. She was 82 years old.

Yvette was born on November 21, 1939, in Thomazeau, Haïti. She was the youngest of 18 children born to Montila and Alexina Bleus. Her father was a farmer and her mother was a butcher.

At the age of 13, Yvette started her own business and became a skilled entrepreneur who purchased, distributed, and sold food and other essential items in markets in Thomazeau, Grand-Bois, Cornillon, Baptiste, Belladère, Thomonde, and Port-au-Prince.

In her early 40’s, she moved to the United States and settled in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. She worked several jobs to sustain herself, to provide for her family back in Haiti, and to bring her children to the US.

Her interests included spending time with family, sewing, and cooking. She never missed watching her favorite shows like Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.  She loved to view the weather portion of the news and was known as the “forecast lady” because she would report the weather every day for seven days to make sure that loved ones were prepared for what’s ahead.

Yvette is survived by her brother Molière; her children Duquerne, Annecy, Jacques Carlo, and Wendell; her grandchildren Ralph, Guerdy, Taneisha, Rutchilia, Christopher, Fakhir, Julian, Daniela, Gabriel, and Chelsea; her great grandchildren Zeyana, Angel, and Torreon; and a host of nieces and nephews.
