Obituary of Camille Martin

Please share a memory of Camille to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Our beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away on June 19, 2022, in Washington, DC, after fighting years with multiple health issues.  May God welcome her into his new mansion in heaven, as she is missed tremendously here on earth!

Camille Patrice Martin, was born Camille “Mille” Banks on April 19, 1977, at Washington Hospital Center, to the late Nedra Gardner-Banks and Douglas Abram Banks.

Camille attended multiple schools in Washington, DC, and graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School with a diploma in 1995.  She was known for her love of her two kids Kareem and Kayla Martin.  Sheprotected her children, and gave them any and everything she could. She loved to spend time with both of them, whether she was at a fight supporting her son’s boxing career, or spending time with her “Princess” Kayla. She resided in Clinton, Maryland, and learned many lessons from her parents growing up in the inner city of DC.  From her mother she learned that cooking was the key to the heart of every family.  From her father she learned to always take care of yourself, and never depend on anyone.

Camille was very versatile, and always ready to take on a new job to learn different things.  She had many jobs in her lifetime, despite her many health issues.  Thelatest one was being a business analyst, assisting with the affairs of the federal government.  She knew the Lord, and had peace in her heart knowing that when she left this earth she would be with HIM.  She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Glenarden, where she was a member of the Women’s Ministry’s study group.  She was the youngest member of that group, yet, members of the group were quoted as saying “Camille thought SHE was everyone’s mother.”  Yes Camille, despite her age, felt like she was responsible for everybody.

If you needed a good story about something that happened in the past, the person to call was Camille.  She would tell the same story every time, making you laugh about a different intricate detail.  Camille had a heart of gold and will be missed by all.

Camille had multiple family members that proceeded her in death, Nedra Garner Banks (mother), Grandma Pinkett, Grandma Charlene, aunts, “Peaches”, Colleen, and Kim.

Camille leaves to mourn her life and legacy: her children Kareem and Kayla Martin and two bonus children D’won Martin and D’sai Jefferson, her only grandson Kaden; her father Douglas Banks, her sisters Leticia “Tish” Dyer, Katrina “Trina” Little, Charlene Banks, LiNida Bines, and Lindsey Mitchell; her brother Michael Little Jr.;her aunts Donita Gaskins, Carletha Goins, Gina Brooks, Lisa Banks, Ernestine Garner and Denise Banks, her uncles Darrell Garner, Ernest Garner “Uncle Mann,” and Jeffrey Banks; her best friend Linda Porter, many nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
