Obituary of William Howard Trimiar

"TO EVERYTHING THERE IS A SEASON, A TIME FOR EVERY PURPOSE"

Today we gather to acknowledge and celebrate the new life into which William Howard Trimiar has entered; eternal life in the presence of his God, his Creator. William Howard Trimiar, also known as Bill, the eldest of two siblings, was born January 12, 1930, in Lynchburg, VA, to the late James T. Trimiar and the late Fannie O'Kelly Trimiar.

"A TIME FOR EDUCATION AND LABOR"

William attended Payne Elementary School and graduated from Dunbar High School in Lynchburg, Va. At an earlier age, he was baptized at the Diamond Hill Baptist of Lynchburg, VA. He enlisted in the Navy in 1948 and was discharged in 1952 in Oxnard, California.

He worked in and around California for many long years. He did not return to the East Coast until 1980. In the process, he attended several colleges, which helped him secure grants in the 70ties from the California government to open up a medical clinic to help rehabilitate many men that had fallen by the wayside and needed help. Bill got married, and he and his first wife and step-son moved to Window Rock, AZ, to help the Navaho Indians. In Arizona, he worked for the U. S. Government Tribal Computer Center as a Program Analyst - To further his education, he attended colleges in Window Rock, AZ. After residing in Arizona on the Navajo Indian Reservation for seven years, his first wife secured employment at the new Indian Affairs Agency in Washington DC. As a result, they relocated to DC. William went to work for PEPCO as a Tele-Communications Network Coordinator.

He retired from PEPCO but returned to PEPCO as a contractor and worked for several more years. He also worked part-time for Metro Access.

"A TIME TO LIVE, LOVE AND DO THE THINGS HE LIKED BEST"

LIVE - William lived a very happy life after he returned to the East Coast., enjoying life as it was never before. Whoever he met took a liking to him. They all will miss and cherish his precious memories and undying support, and he will always be remembered as a happy-go-lucky guy. After moving to DC, he joined Mount Sinai Baptist Church in Washington, DC, on February 2, 1986. And he was a dedicated member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church as he served on the Security Team and several choirs. He was also a member of Family Unit 10. He loved to sing in the choir and was always put in the wrong section of the choir because he had a voice like Nat King Cole. Bless his soul, and he could still carry a tune during his dying days. He always was ready to fulfill his passion of going out to eat at different restaurants all around the metro area, especially Daddy Grace Kitchen on M Street, NW. His caring spirit touched everyone who knew him, including his immediate family, friends, and neighbors. He was also involved in politics and his hometown club, which was established in DC – The Lynchburger’s Club, Inc.

LOVE - William lived a very independent life after his divorce. After traveling worldwide, William met Delores in 1983, who is from his hometown, Lynchburg, VA. They were the first couple to have a formal wedding in October 1985 in the new sanctuary of Mt Sinai Baptist Church. He loved to travel, and after he and Delores were married, he had an opportunity to return to visit Window Rock, AZ, and California. He also enjoyed cruising to the Caribbean and Hawaii. Willam was a very materialistic guy who enjoyed having a loving and caring wife and family who supported him. William was forever searching for that connection in his life, and he found it in Delores and her children.

"A TIME FOR DUTY AS A BROTHER AND FATHER"

As a brother, he and his two siblings were always very close. Between him and his younger brother Jimmy, they were the family's Matriarch. He loved to spend quality time with his favorite cousin, who was like his brother, Otha Trimiar, and Otha's daughter, Sharon Trimiar Jenkins, and her family. Also, with his infectious smile and gentle way, he was a father figure to many children around him. As a Father, he enjoyed the time he spent with his two step-children, Jeffrey and Jenise, and his godson, Jermaine, whom he helped to raise. He also had a front seat in helping to nurture two of his grandchildren, Xavier, Zuri, and his godson Sean. He always displayed a fatherly figure. He loved children immensely and would laugh, joke, and do anything for them.

He was predeceased by his mother, father, and last year, 2021, his brother, Dr. J. Sinclair Trimiar.

As God would have it, after battling with Dementia and then Home Hospice for a month, William left this earthly body on July 3, 2022. He will be forever cherished and remembered by his devoted wife, Delores of 37 years; his sister, Yvonne, Hosannah of Seattle, WA; his three step-children, Bevin Dufty of Los Angeles, CA, Jeffrey Ross, and Jenise Ross of MD; his three godsons, Jermaine Ragin (Michelle), Eddie Suggs (Syeeta) of MD, and Sean Ragin (Shantell) of TX.; his grandchildren, Xavier Myrick (Candace) of CA, Zuri Myrick, Nino Ross, and Zoey Ragin of MD; five nieces, Stephanie Trimiar and her son, Kyle of New York , Farnese Hicks and Gayle Holmes of Mitchellville, MD, Kim and Sheri Johnson of Lynchburg, VA; seven nephews, Dr. Hylton Hosannah (Glenda) of Albany, NY, Vernon Hosannah (Deseree) of Seattle, WA, Professor Jay Trimiar (Rosie) of Adu Dhabi, Kevin Bronson (Simone) of NY, Robert Hicks, Jr. (Jeanette) of Lynchburg, VA, Rodney Morris (Regina) of Culpepper, VA, and Joel Johnson (Doris) of Fayetteville, NC; sister-in-law, Evelyn Trimiar of VA Beach, VA; brother-in-law, Rev Dr James E. Johnson, Jr. (Mary) of Lynchburg, VA; a host of other relatives, friends, and his MSBC Church Family.
