Obituary of Veronica Lana McCauley
A Time To Be Born… And A Time To Die.
Veronica Lana McCauley was born on July 19, 1962 in Washington, D.C. to the late Birley Eugene McCauley, Sr and Bertha Mae McCauley (Massie). Veronica accepted Christ at an early age and she loved the Lord with all of her heart, soul, mind and strength. She was the fourth of eight children. Veronica faithfully served the Lord, her church, and the body of Christ until her death.
A Time To Plant … And A Time To Pluck Up That Which Is Planted.
She was educated in the DC public school system where she attended Barnard Elementary School and McFarland Junior High. She graduated from Theodore Roosevelt Senior High School where she was crowned homecoming queen. After graduation, Veronica attended Southeastern University where she received her bachelor's degree in General Studies and master’s degree in International Management.
Veronica worked for the Dept. of Justice as a case management specialist for many years and held numerous positions within this department. She loved serving and working with ministers, elders and pastors. Later, she would stop working in the public sector to begin working in the private sector where she worked for the First Lady at Evangel Cathedral in Upper Marlboro, MD for several years.
She became a licensed minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ in October 2017 at The Shepherd’s House International Christian Church (TSHICC) under the leadership of Senior Pastor R. Kevin Matthews. An excellent bible teacher, she ministered to hundreds through her bible course, “Understanding Spiritual Authority,” at Evangel Cathedral and TSHICC. A dedicated and dependable minister, Veronica served as an altar worker, biblical instructor for THSICC’s Bible Institute, spiritual counselor and advisor to many. One of the pinnacle moments in Veronica’s spiritual walk was her pilgrimage to the Holy Land in November 2019 where she walked in the footsteps of Jesus as she toured Israel, Caesarea, The Sea of Galilee, Mount Masada, The Dead Sea and Israel.
A Time To Love.
Veronica was the glue that held everyone together and was very family oriented. She was our social media before social media was popular assuring that family members remained informed and connected with one another with phone calls, text, emails or just family visits. She was very close to her aunts and uncles, always checking in with them ensuring they were okay. She made it her point to attend all important family functions. She was a prayer warrior. If you were family or just someone she loved, you knew it.
Veronica was preceded in death by her parents. Veronica leaves to cherish her memory six brothers: Terry Whittington of Boone, NC; Birley E. McCauley, Jr. (Loretta) of Waldorf, MD; Dekovin E. McCauley, Sr. (Tammy) of West Berlin, NJ; Troy R. McCauley (Felicia) of Plainfield, Illinois; Terrence McCauley, Sr. (Robin) of White Plains, MD; A.
