Obituary of Allyson Jenifer Curtis

Please share a memory of Allyson to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Allyson Jenifer Curtis was born on May 1, 1954, in Washington, D.C., to the late Anita Jenifer Moore and Andrew Curtis. Allyson attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help, St. Francis Xavier Elementary School, and St. Anthony’s High School in Washington, D.C., where she developed lifelong friendships.  She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education from Virginia State College, then went on to earn her Masters in Special Education from Howard University.

Allyson was an incredible educator, with an emphasis on special education. She began her teaching career in the District of Columbia Public School system and retired in 2016 from the Prince George’s County Public School system.

Above all else, Allyson was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She was incredibly humble and had the biggest heart. Allyson never met a stranger and always went above and beyond to extend a helping hand, listening ear, or kind words. She loved watching movies, especially westerns and, most of all, The Godfather. She was no-nonsense, had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed life, especially her friends and family.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her sister, Adrienne J. Curtis-Morgan; her niece, Jenifer Curtis-Morgan; her cousin, Darryl Jenifer; her aunt, Joy Bounds, and family; and a host of other relatives and friends.
