Obituary of Maxine P. Wilkinson

Maxine P. Wilkinson departed this life on Sunday, February 11, 2018. 

Maxine was born in Lapine, Alabama on April 2, 1936 to the union of the late Steven Provo and Magnolia L. Provo.  She moved to Washington, D.C. in 1945.  She attended the Washington, D.C. public schools.  Upon graduation from Cardoza High School in 1955, she attended an intermediate business school.  After completion of her training, she began working for Soldiers Home and later transferred to the Department of the Navy as a Secretary for more than 20 years where she retired from to care for her mother until she passed.

She became a member of Spirit of Peace Baptist Church and loved being an Usher. Maxine loved caring for family members and friends, traveling, baking cakes and pies; most of all fishing. 

She met and married Marvin Wilkinson on Saturday, July 21, 1964, and later remarried Marvin on Saturday, September 2, 2017.  She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband Marvin Wilkinson, Step-Brother, Steven Provo, Jr., in South Carolina, Two Sister-In-laws, Jacquelyn Simmons (Sam) and
Dorothy Burroughs (Dino), Two Brother-In-Laws, Dan Wilkinson, Washington, Georgia and Roger Wilkinson, Washington, Georgia,
Step-Daughter, Cherline Wilkinson and Step-Son, Marvin Wilkinson, Jr., cousins:  Claude Murray, Jr., Carrie Keye (Willie), Mary Scott, Clarence Bush, and niece Reshelle Provo, who preceded her in death; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
