Obituary of Ralph Roland Telfort
Ralph Roland Telfort was born in Washington D.C. at Georgetown hospital on July 14th, 1971 to Joseph & Manita Telfort. From birth Ralph was diagnosed with Spina Bifida and several physical ailments which left him disabled. However, he never let these ailments stop him from living life to the fullest.
Ralph began his education in DC public school system where he attended Sharpe Health School and later graduated from Theodore Roosevelt Senior High School in 1992. Ralph took part in several activities during his former years such as JROTC, FBLA, winning 1st place in the District of Columbia Spelling Bee, and participated in student government. Continuing his education Ralph was accepted and attended college at The University of the District of Columbia. While in college Ralph received a job at the Department of Transportation as a Mail Carrier where he worked for over 15 years. Ralph loved God, his family and his church.
Ralph was a lifetime member of Metropolitan A. .M. E. Church in Washington D.C. where he was baptized by Rev. Frank Madison Reid Jr. Ralph was involved in several ministries such as, The Cradle Roll, The Mighty Men of Metropolitan, and the church choir just to name a few.
Ralph won many awards from several organizations such as the Special Olympics where he participated in wheelchair dancing, wheelchair track & field, wheelchair basketball and wheelchair tennis where he was a gold & bronze medalist in these events for over 10 years. While Ralph was in high school, he won the prestigious 7 On Your Side 7 “Who Cares” award for his outstanding work in his Academic studies and community service.
It seemed like there was nothing that Ralph couldn’t do. He had a true passion for music. Ralph was a self-taught musician who taught himself how to play many instruments such as the guitar, drums, and the piano. He often sang at karaoke nights, weddings and other events.
In recent years Ralph’s heath began to decline. Even though his pain was unbearable, he always kept a smile on his face and a positive attitude. On Monday May 4th, 2019 Ralph departed this life to spend eternal rest with his heavenly Father. Ralph was preceded in death by his father Joseph Telfort. Left to honor Ralph and cherish his memories is his loving and devoted mother Manita Telfort, Mireille Bernard(Sister), Manouchka Massillon-Payne (Niece) (Daniel) Arschley Germain (Nephew) Emmanuel & Michella Massillon (Great-Nephew and Great Niece) Eden and Evan Payne (Great-Nephew's).
