Byron always called me Uncle Mike. This started when his grandfather introduced himself and his wife to me. Then grandpa introduced all of his sons and their wives at Breath of Life to me. Grandpa told me, I know you do not know anyone here. Now you have a new family. We expect you to have Sabbath Dinner with us every week. What a wonderful greeting. Sorry to say, but this has been one of a kind and thus began my new life with my new family.
Bryon’s Uncles became my brothers and best friends. Byron’s father had a special gift in the kitchen. Before the church was built and there was no kitchen, we ate out of the trunks of the families vehicles and it was always ‘finger licking good’.
The most remarkable thing that sticks to my mind of Byron is that living in the city after his father passed, Byron did not become side tracked by the city distractions. Byron was very young but he kept the faith. This young man loved The Lord and he was anchored on the solid rock and kept the faith until the end. Oh! This is not to say that Byron did not have to climb the rough side of the mountain. OhYes! he fell down but he knew how to call on the Lord and get back up! I’m so thankful that the rough side of the mountain had rocks, trees and tree stumps to catch him when he fell. For if he had been on the smooth side of the mountain, he would not have had anything to catch him and he would have been falling and falling and falling...
Therefore, I say:
Well done!!! thy good and faithful servant...
Missing you,
Uncle Mike
