So sad to learn of Art's passing. Just happened to look up his name on Facebook today which led me to doing a Google search and finding this obituary.
Art was a wonderfully colorful spirit back in the 80s when he worked in an art supply company next door to my office building. He enlightened me about DC's art scene back then and I'm forever grateful to him for sharing with me his artistic world in an artist colony on Rhode Island Avenue, NW. I too partied until dawn on most Saturday nights and would often run into Art at our favorite dance spot - The Clubhouse. I'll dance in Art's memory at The Clubhouse reunion event on Sunday, May 26. He'll be with us in spirit.
May his soul rest in peace. My condolences to his family, loved ones and friends.

Being with Art was like hanging out with Peter Pan, a boy who would never really grow up. He was a sweet, generous (especially when he hit that no. which he played daily) warm friend who was a natural artist. I guess I now have the biggest collection of his work.
He also loved animals, and I'm sure that there are a number of cats near his apartment building who are missing their daily meals cause Art is no longer around. We had some wonderful adventures together...........Art's first plane trip to visit our friend, Mary, in San Francisco, and some a little scary, like the time (after a night of dancing, and Art and I were great dance partners), some creepy guy was following us home in his car. Art was a big part of my growing up in WDC. I can never forget his '' boo hoo'' or ''hey, my dear''. RIP beloved friend till we meet again.
Love, Lida
