Obituary of Arthur “ART” McCombs
Arthur “ART” McCombs
December 9, 1955 – August 20, 2017
Arthur McCombs (age 61) best known as “ART”, the beloved son of Cornelia Elizabeth McCombs (deceased), suddenly departed this life on Sunday, August 20, 2017, at his residence in the District of Columbia.
"Art" was born on December 9, 1955 in Washington D.C., at Garfield Hospital. He was educated in the District of Columbia school system and developed a love for artistic painting. He became a devoted painter with many family members owning his art work. "ART” used his artistic skills for many years in the workforce, including Michael’s Craft Store.
"Art" had a smile and personality that warmed your heart and he had a contagious heart for people. He will be remembered for the smile he graciously shared with all and his friendly demeanor. You would often see Art in his African attire, in which he loved stylishly sported.
He loved attending the Annual LeDroit Park Reunion; the beloved neighborhood where he grew up, near Howard University. He would attend each year to reunite with his childhood classmates and friends. He seldom missed a year. He also enjoyed oldies music from the 60’s and 70’s.
“Art” leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Fartoumata McCombs, his children Arthur Jr. (Bay Boy) and Syreeta McCombs, step-sons Abdoulaye Madior Fall, Ismael Douai; grandchildren Armon, Chyna, El Hadji, Fatoumata, Ibrahima, Jamal, Jule, Linden, London, Puma, Robert, Seynabou, Tayja; soon-to-be born great-grandchild; his sisters Mary (John), Theresa, Katie, Yvette, Phyllis (deceased); brother Richard McCombs (deceased); many beloved nieces and nephews; and a host of relatives and faithful friends.
